Hello, Penumbra:
A Tulsa Artist Fellowship and Living Arts’ Curatorial Partnership

December 7th 2018-January 18th 2019

Hello, Penumbra features four Tulsa Artist Fellows in a curatorial effort to showcase work that stretches into, and reaches for, spaces that are not frequently seen, visited, and explored through installative aesthetics. Artists Crystal Z Campbell, Shane Darwent, Florine Demosthene, and Heyd Fontenot utilize installation within their work as a means for expanding, and deepening, a dialogue between the world of their artwork and the viewer. For this exhibition, each artist considers their practice in response to the spatiality of Living Arts. As such, this group show is a communion of conversations between Living Arts and among the fellows. Components of the work were conceived for this group show, offering opportunities for viewers to be enveloped within these different visual/conceptual worlds.

The penumbra is the partial shaded outer region of a shadow, a tertiary moment within a dichotomy; let the penumbratic embrace generate guiding points between seemingly disparate processes within the group show.
