Processed is a collaborative show featuring artists Schmickle, Yang, and Live4This. Their work focuses on the intersection of graphic design, fine art, pop-culture and how these realms influence one another. What happens when the definitions of art and design are tweaked? What constitutes a work of art versus a work of design? They use silk screen printing to echo the mass-production processes that are commonly seen on store shelves. It is used to create limited edition objects of art. Installation techniques are used to hint at a retail atmosphere. It is stocked with objects not commonly on display. Those contrast with traditional fine art techniques and brilliant color. In the end, a body of work was created, which was once personal and global, high art and pop-culture, design and art.
