Entry Fee for the 24-Hour Video Race: $30 before 12 midnight on Thursday, February 2 or $35 after midnight. All fees must be paid by 12 midnight on February 3 before the race begins.

Tulsa, OK – On Friday, February 3, video enthusiasts from across the state will gather at Living Arts in Downtown Tulsa to finalize their registration and size up their competition for the 24-Hour Video Race. The race challenges Oklahoma filmmakers to form small teams with which to write, shoot, and edit a short (no longer than 5-min) video in just 24 hours. The participating teams will be required to incorporate into their submissions a surprise theme, prop and line of dialogue, which will be revealed to them at the stroke of midnight on Friday, February 3.

Elements will also be available at www.livingarts.org after 12 midnight on Friday the 3rd for out of town artists and in case of bad weather. Videographers must drop off their completed videos along with required registration information at the IAO Gallery (706 W. Sheridan Downtown OKC between Lee & Shartel, Oklahoma City), or Living Arts of Tulsa (307 E Brady St, Tulsa) before 12 midnight on Saturday, February 4. 

 


Entries will be judged at a screening on Thursday, February 16 at Philbrook Museum of Art. The Judges’ Choice video will be awarded a prize of $300, and other category winners will also receive awards of $175. 
24-Hour Video Race is co-sponsored by Philbrook Museum of Art, Individual Artists of Oklahoma, and Living Arts of Tulsa. A Kick Off event will be held at Living Arts of Tulsa on Friday, February 3 beginning at 11 pm. The race starts at 12 midnight on Friday, February 3 and ends at 12 midnight on Saturday, February 4. Entries will be screened at Philbrook Museum of Art on Thursday, February 16 at 6 pm, but the evening will begin at 5pm with a cash bar and a viewing of past winners.
 


24-HOUR VIDEO RACE GUIDELINES

1. Registration
There will be a Kick Off at Living Arts (307 E. Brady in Downtown Tulsa) at 11:30 pm on Friday, February 3 for registration and to announce the competition theme information. If you cannot make the Kick Off, send an email to info@livingarts.org to request registration forms. The surprise theme, prop and line of dialogue information will be available on Living Arts website at midnight on Friday, February 3. All registration forms and fees must be submitted and paid by 12 midnight on February 3.

2. Entry Submission
All entries must be dropped off at Living Arts or at IAO Gallery (706 W. Sheridan Downtown OKC between Lee & Shartel) by midnight on Saturday, February 4 in order to be eligible to win. Any submissions received after midnight will not be eligible to win.

3. Equipment
Contestants must provide all of their own equipment.

4. Length
The video must be five minutes or shorter, including credits. Any submissions running longer than five minutes will be subject to disqualification. Contestants should know the exact run time of their video and should be prepared to provide this information when the video is submitted. 

5. Cast and Crew
The cast and crew must be groups of eight (8) people or less. Background performers or extras do not count, so you may film in a crowd. Each team will choose a team captain and a team name. Each team must complete and sign the release form provided.

6. Required Elements
Teams must incorporate a designated theme, prop and line of dialogue into their entries. The theme, prop and line of dialogue will be revealed to participants at midnight on Friday, February 3. The theme may be expressed in the video’s plot, soundtrack, words, etc. The videos must also give credit to the 24-Hour Video Race and include logos for Living Arts, Philbrook Museum of Art, and Individual Artists of Oklahoma in their credits. 7. Original Work
Do not use part or all of a previous project or footage that has not been filmed during the assigned 24-hour period.

8. Location Shooting
You must secure permission on your own for any locations.

9. Format
All entries must be submitted on either DVD-R format and must play on a home DVD player. The submission copy will not be returned.

10. Credits
Credit the 24-Hour Video Race co-presented by Living Arts, Philbrook Museum of Art, and Individual Artists of Oklahoma. You must include the logos for Living Arts, Philbrook Museum of Art, and Individual Artists of Oklahoma, which are pictured below. For example, you could say, “Made for/as part of the 24-Hour Video Race co-sponsored by Living Arts, Philbrook Museum of Art, and Individual Artists of Oklahoma” with the logos appearing below the text.
Important: If a submission does not credit the 24-Hour Video Race and/or does not include the required logos, it will be subject to disqualification.

11. Category for entries includes:
Student (18 & under), College, Videophile (19 & over, non student), Experimental, and Animation.

12. Judging

Entries will be judged during the screening at the Philbrook Museum of Art. All participants will receive a copy of the judging criteria at the start of the race. The judges will compare scores at the end of the screening and a winner will be announced. We reserve the right not to screen any film.
