2010 GUIDELINES
1. Time Period
Kick-off at Living Arts (307 E. Brady in Downtown Tulsa) at 11:00 PM on Friday, February 5, 2010 to finalize registration and hand out the competition theme information and guidelines. All entries must be dropped off at Living Arts (307 E. Brady, Tulsa, OK) or at IAO Gallery (706 W. Sheridan in OKC) by midnight of Saturday night, February 6 in order to be eligible to win. Any submissions received after midnight may be shown at the screening, but will not be eligible to win.
2. Equipment
Contestants must provide all of their own equipment.
3. Length
The video must be five minutes or shorter, including credits. Any submissions running longer than five minutes will be subject to disqualification. Contestants should know the exact run time of their video and should be prepared to provide this information when the video is submitted.
4. Registration
Video Entrees must be registered and crew members must have signed the release forms in order to be registered. All registrations are due by Midnight on Friday, February 5, 2010. Registration may be submitted in advance to the Living Arts Business Office, 308 S. Kenosha, Tulsa, OK. 74120 or at the Kick-Off event on February 5, 2010.
5. Cast and Crew
The cast and crew must be groups of eight (8) people or less. Background performers or extras do not count, so you may film in a crowd. Each team will choose a team captain and a team name. Each team member must complete and sign the release form provided.
6. Required Elements
Teams must incorporate the designated theme and prop into their entries. The theme and prop will be revealed to participants at midnight of Friday, February 5 at Living ArtSpace and will be put on the website at midnight: www.livingarts.org/video.htm The theme may be expressed in the video’s plot, soundtrack, script, etc. The videos must also give credit to the 24 Hour Video Race and include logos for IAO, Living Arts and Philbrook Museum in their credits. More information on this can be found below in the section marked “Credits.”
7. Original Work
Do not use part or all of a previous project or footage that has not been filmed during the assigned 24-hour period.
8. Location Shooting
You must secure permission on your own for any locations and persons in your video.
9. Format
All entries must be submitted on either DVD-R or VHS. The submission copy will not be returned. Please! Make sure you watch the video before submitting to see if it is the way you want it.
10. Credits
Credit the 24 Hour Video Race as: co-sponsored by Living Arts, Philbrook Museum of Art and the Individual Artists of Oklahoma. You must include the logos for Living Arts, The IAO and Philbrook Museum of Art, pictured below. For example, you could say, “Made for/as part of the 24 Hour Video Race co-sponsored by Living Arts, Philbrook Museum of Art and the IAO” with the logos appearing below the text.
Important: If a submission does not credit the 24 Hour Video Race and/or does not include the required logos, it will be subject to disqualification.
11. Judging
Entries will be judged during the screening at Philbrook Museum of Art on Thursday, February 18, 6:00pm. All participants will receive a copy of the judging criteria at the start of the race. The judges will compare scores at the end of the screening and a winner will be announced. We reserve the right not to screen any film.
12. Categories
Entries must be entered into only one of the following categories:
- 18 and under Student
- College Student
- Video-Phil (non-student 19 and over)
- Animation
- Experimental
- Juror’s Award
- People’s Award
13. Entry Fee
An entry fee of $30. per team in the Video-Phil, Animation and Experimental Categories
And $15. for the two Student categories You may send a check made out to Living Arts c/o Business Office, 308 S Kenosha, Tulsa, Ok. 74120, or pay online through PayPal at: http://livingarts.org/video.htm
14. Awards
Awards will be given to the top choices in each of the 5 categories as well as an “Audience Choice” award given at the Philbrook Screening. The Awards will be announced at a reception at Living ArtSpace, 307 E. Brady, Tulsa just after the Philbrook Screening.
15. Screenings
In addition to the screening of all entrees at Philbrook, Award Winners will also be screened at the New Genre XVII Video Matinee, at the Individual Artists of Oklahoma and at the deadCENTER Film Festival. |
