Neighborhood Watch

The Jenks Police Department is currently engaged in developing Neighborhood Watch organizations to help curb the occurrence of crime thorughout the city of Jenks. The program consists of forming a group within, usually housing additions, that are trained to be aware of conditions that may be indicative of crimes in progress and the proper way to work together as a group to document and alert the police of suspicious activity. The program attempts to help residents take measures to make their homes less attractive to criminals.

Business Watch:
Business Watch is a program that the Jenks Police Department is developing to assist businesses in detecting crimes in progress and deterring crime. The program will emphasize measures that can be taken by individual businesses to help make them more crime resistant and guide them in what to do if they become a victim of crime. 

Public Transportation

Tulsa Transit bus service is available throughout the City of Tulsa and extends into Jenks, Sand Springs and Broken Arrow.

Service to Jenks is within the original townsite, north of the Creek Turnpike. Jenks northbound service terminates at the Main Station which is located downtown Tulsa at 319 South Denver. Southbound service returns to Jenks.

Oklahoma Aquarium Announces “Sister Aquarium” Partnership

The Oklahoma Aquarium  announced its new “sister aquarium” partnership with the Gottesman Family Israel Aquarium on Monday, March 25 at 6:30 P.M.  Kenny Alexopoulos, Chief Operating Officer of the Oklahoma Aquarium, made the announcement and highlighted how the two facilitiesshare similarities in size, design, opportunities, and more. 

 

“We’re looking forward to cross training our staffs together,” Alexopoulos says. “This partnership will allow us to work with new and different species of animals and technologies, and to experience cultural enrichment with new ideas and techniques.”  

 

Many of the life support features in the Gottesman Family Israel Aquarium were designed by the Oklahoma Aquarium’s Chief Operating Officer Kenny Alexopoulos and Deputy Director John Money. Alexopoulos and Money were contracted as Head Design Consultants to advise on the exhibits, animal collection, visitor experience, staffing, as well as the aquarium’s filtration and other equipment necessary to care for the animals. 

 

Similar to the Oklahoma Aquarium in Jenks, the Gottesman Family Israel Aquarium is landlocked in Jerusalem; however, both aquariums address their environmental impact on important large bodies of water. The Oklahoma Aquarium is located on the Arkansas River and its education programs teach students about their impact on our rivers and waterways and ultimately, the ocean. TheGottesman Family Israel Aquarium highlights local impact on Mediterranean and Red Sea, as well as Lake Tiberias, the Dead Sea, and the Suez Canal. The Oklahoma Aquarium shows the impact of invasive species such as zebra mollusks in area lakes, and the Gottesman Family Israel Aquarium shows the impact of commercial fishing, invasive species, and plastic and other trash in the environment. 

 

Both aquariums will also support each other in research and environmental education, beginning with trainings in Oklahoma for staff members Noam Katsir and Pablo from the Gottesman Family Israel Aquarium. The men will work alongside staff from the Oklahoma Aquarium this week, particularly around the reproduction of seahorses and jellyfish. Katsir and Ditnis will also join staff of the Oklahoma Aquarium at an international conference for Aquatic Animal Life Support Operators (AALSO) in Long Beach, California, later this week.
